$25/hr is my standard fee. The hourly fee structure works best for any work from light line editing to substantive and even re-writing. I will work with a project fee, or work per page if you know what you need.
From individual clients I often get manuscripts that often have a variety of needs: substantive editing, copy or line editing, proofreading, and formatting. I also edit Power Point presentations with language and layout issues.
For most manuscripts:
- Fonts: True type fonts.
- Double spaced lines
- 1 to 1 1/2 margins
- Author/Short title/page# in the upper right hand corner.
I have worked with other formats, but this would change any per page fee as it is based on double spaced lines.
Let me know if you need the manuscript sent snail mail with the edits and flagged comments or returned via e-mail with a marked copy with comments, or with all edits without markup. If you need me to work with a particular style, also let me know what it is.
Per page fee:
Light copy editing—line or copy editing: skim documents, correct obvious spelling errors, check grammar, punctuation consistency—is $3/page.
Medium editing—more detailed line editing, some substantive editing—is $7/page.
Full editing—line or copy editing with substantive editing and possibly re-writing—is $10/page.
